A spiral staircase gets people between floors in the smallest footprint, and done well it becomes the feature of a space. DPSC is a spiral staircase fabrication company in Dubai. We build steel spiral and helical stairs for villas, rooftops, mezzanines, retail interiors, and industrial access, fabricated in our Al Quoz workshop and installed by our own team.
Spiral or helical?
A spiral staircase winds around a central column, with each tread fixed to that column. It is compact and economical, and well suited to roof access, mezzanines, and plant platforms. A helical staircase has no central column. Its stringers are rolled into a curve, which gives an open, sculptural stair for villas, showrooms, and lobbies. It takes more engineering and fabrication skill, which is where a specialist matters.
What goes into a good spiral stair
- Accurate setting-out: the diameter, rotation, number of treads, and headroom are worked out from the floor-to-floor height before fabrication.
- Rolled steel: helical stringers and handrails are rolled to a consistent radius so the curve reads smoothly.
- Tread options: chequered plate, folded plate ready for stone or timber, perforated or grating treads outdoors.
- Balustrade: vertical bars, rods, mesh, or glass, with a continuous rolled handrail.
- Finish: paint or powder coat indoors, and galvanizing plus paint outdoors.
